Position Title: Programs Coordinator

Supervised by: Director of Programs

Supervises: Program Volunteers and Program Interns

Job Classification: Exempt Full Time Employee, starting pay 18.00 hr.

Purpose of Position: The Program Coordinator works directly with the Director of Programs to assist in creating a safe environment in which Girls Inc. of Santa Fe’s programs can be implemented. Ensures all programs are purposeful, grounded in best practice, and beneficial to all girls and their families.

Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains a safe, nurturing, girl-centered environment for girls and staff.

  • Adheres to the approved schedule.
  • Assists Program Manager(s) and Facilitators in acquiring any necessary materials and food for the programs.
  • Acts as a resource to parents and staff, including assisting parents with registration and addressing parent questions
  • Creates and maintains positive relationships with parents, girls, school staff and Girls Inc. administration through effective communication.
  • Substitutes for program staff as needed; delivering intentional programming.
  • Assists program staff with girls’ behavior/discipline issues.
  • Assists with any necessary administrative duties including reports, evaluations, data entry, filing, and scheduling.
  • Tracks attendance by checking messages and sign-in sheets and calling parents/guardians to confirm absences if they are not reported.
  • Supervises girls during program activities and field trips.
  • Assists Program leadership with program staff hiring, training and ongoing coaching.
  • Participates in set-up, clean-up, and decoration of Hillside Center.
  • Has understanding of risk management.
  • Assists with management and organization of building and van maintenance.
  • Coordinates with community partners to arrange for collaborations and field trips for program participants.
  • Explores changing interests and developmental needs of girls to keep up to date with changing patterns. Utilizes resources such as girls themselves, appropriate staff and program volunteers and Girls Incorporated program initiatives to develop a coordinated program which will meet the needs of girls.
  • Implements and is an advocate for all policies and procedures of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe and explains them to staff, parents and girls.
  • Participates in set-up, clean-up, and decoration of Hillside Center.
  • Assists girls and program staff in resolving conflicts in accordance with Girls Inc. of Santa Fe Conflict Resolution Policies.
  • Coaches, motivates, and encourages program staff.
  • Participates in the training of program staff.
  • Participates in program staff meetings and conferences to share ideas and concerns, and works collaboratively with other staff to meet organizational goals and achieve staff objectives.

Human Resources and Administrative Tasks

  • Purchases or requests office supplies as needed.
  • Other misc. Administrative tasks as needed

Participates in personal professional development.

  • Participates in periodic assessment of own performance and developing individual performance goals and objectives in consultation with the Director of Programs and CEO.
  • Takes initiative to seek training and other developmental/professional growth opportunities to ensure effective job performance.
  • Participates in Girls Inc. regional and national functions as agreed upon with the Executive Director, and represents Girls Inc. in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree, with courses in education, recreation, psychology, sociology preferred. Special consideration may be given for equivalent experience and personal qualifications in lieu of a degree.
  • Work experience in youth-work or related fields, which should include some experience in supervision, administration, curriculum and course design, and community relations.
  • Skill in working with a diverse group of people; ability to facilitate cooperative work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with girls in planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge in a wide range of program topics
  • Ability to communicate with groups and individuals to foster their involvement and participation in program planning, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Available and willing to work occasional evenings and Saturdays as required.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs which are responsive to the needs and interests of girls.
