JEANINE MASON, ACTRESS

In 2019, while in Santa Fe filming the TV show Roswell, New Mexico, actress Jeanine Mason became a friend of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe. She visited our Hillside facility and spoke to the girls about the dedication it took for her to become a successful actress and dancer. Jeanine has continued supporting us by sharing our Amazon Wish List with her social media followers who then purchased $1,000 worth of books, microscopes and much-needed supplies for our programs.

Thank you, Jeanine, for your support in helping us inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold!

Q: What is it like to be a woman in the entertainment industry?
Jeanine: To be a woman in entertainment is to know, love and work with a bunch of women whose minds are treasure troves. They are dazzling and inspiring and life changing creative friendships. Like being in a room with a bunch of cool aunts. I feel very proud and honored to be in the company of such a powerful and inspiring group of women working in all areas of our industry. Proud of how far I’ve come, grateful for the women who paved the way for me and duty bound to keep paving the way for the next generation.

Q: Did you face any challenges on the way to becoming successful?
J: Absolutely. No path worth taking is without its difficulties but I don’t believe anything is insurmountable. I believe, whole heartedly, I am enough. Me and my hard work can go pretty darn far. And as long as you know that, that’s it’s not a matter of if but when, then all you got to do is keep on keeping on.

Q: What advice do you have for girls who may be interested in pursuing a career in entertainment?
J: I would say we need you! Remember how many jobs exist behind the camera. So many people come together to build every frame of a TV show or movie. You don’t have to be an actor like me! You can be in construction and build us a beautiful castle. You can work in special effects and blow up said castle! Or you can pick the music with our music department to perfectly highlight the exploding castle. Whatever you’re interested in, we can use your specialty.

Q: What is your hope for the future of women and girls?
J: That with each generation more and more girls grow up knowing they are limitless.
